Mr. Bozo

  1. Completed only a bachelor’s, but insists people call him Doctor
  2. Founded church where he had all the women greet him by kissing them ON THE LIPS
  3. Lies constantly about “having previous companies in this genre” when he’s actually talking about businesses that didn’t belong to him
  4. Claims a professional license but hasn’t completed a single CEU requirement in the last 30 years
  5. Has a mistress, and a separate house (boom boom shack) for them to hook up at, and sends the mistress to do all of his dirty work
  6. Controls his family by dividing them
  7. Blatantly and happily cheats on his wife, steals from his elderly mother-in-law, and verbally abuses his children

This person is just some fictional guy I made up.

After getting myself accepted to a difficult and extremely-selective Executive MBA program: “On second thought we can’t afford tuition reimbursement this year. And besides, you don’t need to get an MBA, you’ve got me!”

I should note that I got accepted despite his ‘recommendation’ letter saying I was too young and naive for the program. Only time in my life I’ve asked for a recommendation letter or reference and gotten a non-recommendation.

I had a simliar problem. He kept telling me I could take off 2 weeks for the births of my children (I get 4 weeks per year) and when the time came he only let me take 2 and 3 days respectively. Apparently I was “too critical” to be gone (i.e. he was too lazy to do my work).

Ha! I worked for him! And you’re right, he didn’t follow any of the stuff in his books. I guess he thought we should all just feel lucky we got to work with someone with such an impressive pedigree.

Did he really make up his college education? That’s hilarious!! I heard him tell people about his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, too!

I worked for your Dad. I wish I could say something constructive about him.

    He’s an asshole.

Sorry he put you through so much, Petey.

Hey, I worked for him, too! It’s a small world!

He is a textbook narcissist. Read this, he is literally all of them! (I stole this description):

    – Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
    – Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
    – Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
    – Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
    – Is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
    – Requires excessive admiration
    – Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
    – Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
    – Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Allow me to go down each item on your list!

      – I have a headache. “I’ve had a headache for days, and also my back hurts!”
      – “I got a PhD. I started businesses!”
      – “Where’s the butter?” Um, in the kitchen…. “…..” *mom goes to get it*
      – “I think I’ll take money from my mother-in-law’s business to fund my own business!”
      – “My kids have higher education than me. I must lie about my own credentials!”
      – No comment needed…
      – No comment needed…
      – “I only talk to C-suite people, because I’m the CEO” (of my 12 person fiefdom)
      – “I will make MILLIONS with these ill-advised projects” “I can only be happy having an affair, because that’s REAL love”

Well shit. I feel left out. I never worked for him. I’ve have definitely known people like that. Did he honestly have 3×5 cards for a prayer? That sounds made up. What a psycho.

Yes, I swear he had 3×5 cards! And the notes he was reading sounded like he’d sat in his office for days deciding how best to dig at everyone during Thanksgiving dinner. It was hysterical.

Pete I don’t think your dad started out like this. I think he has circled the drain the past few years because of his double life. God designed us to have character, and that means being honest and being the same person all the time. You can’t do that while having an extended affair and taking advantage of family financially. The double life takes a toll and that’s what happened to your dad. The sad thing for him is that at this point, he has committed to this life. The odds he ever owns up to it and accepts the consequences are basically zero.

For his eternal soul, I hope I’m wrong. I’ve been counseling for long enough to know that certain things are irrecoverable without a Damascus Road.
