Update at Long Last

I guess you all have been latch-key kids the past month or so. I apologize for my absence, and will try to make the rounds and catch up on you all this weekend. I was called into a very time consuming, difficult, and emergency situation.

I will be less vague than my last personal update, but there are still many things I can’t talk about. (Or they’ll kill me in my sleep) And no, I’m not paranoid, they’re REALLY trying to kill me.

What I can tell you is this… About a month ago, 100% of employees in a particular unnamed business walked out. No warning, no notice, no paper trail. The product this business makes is crucial because it’s a life-and-death type of product. I was what you might call a “first responder” in that I was really the first person on the scene to start assessing the damage.

I have spent the past month reverse engineering, documenting, and staffing the company back up. Because there was no paper trail, we brought in a team of experts to help. Basically, there are people depending on this business being there every day, and we couldn’t afford to let it sit. It looks like we’re going to pull it off… I wish I could give details because it’s really quite remarkable. The deck was stacked purposefully against us, and we got it done anyway.

I’ve been doing this in addition to my real full-time job, and going to school. Needless to say, I’ve been burning the candle at both ends AND in the middle, leaving virtually no time to be online. The only way I can communicate is via my gorgeous TREO 700W, which allows me to get calls and emails no matter where I am.

I’ve got another few weeks to go pulling double-duty, but I’ll be back eventually. In the meantime, shoot me an email and I’ll read it on my phone…
