The Real “Eichmanns”

I can’t go another day without mentioning the Terri Schiavo case.

I’m sure the liberals will hate my guts for going here, but it’s a pretty screwed up deal. So here goes.

Terri is not in a coma. She’s aware of her surroundings, breathes on her own, more than likely can actually swallow on her own, and responds to people she knows.

Terri has no chance of ever getting her brain function back to normal. Right now, they say she has the intellect of a 6-11 month old.

Her husband, hereafter “ratfink” found her after her suspicious stroke that left her brain damaged. He proceded to have kids with his girlfriend, and refused to divorce Terri, oddly since he had a girlfriend and new kids.

Terri’s parents told ratfink to divorce her and they’d take responsibility, but he refused. If he divorces her, he doesn’t get any of the million dollar settlement that Terri got.

Ratfink wants Terri immediately cremated after she dies at his hands. For some reason, he doesn’t want an autopsy done. That’s pretty suspicious, don’t you think?

Terri has no living will. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never told anyone “hey, if I’m brain damaged, stop feeding me.” She isn’t brain dead, so you can’t make the argument that the breathing machine is artificially keeping her alive.

Terri’s parents are convinced that she would not want to be starved to death. And of course, who would want to go through a painful two week death?

The justification is that she’s a vegetable and can’t feel anything. Strangely, she can still cry. That doesn’t sound like veg to me.

So we’re going to give Terri a cruel and unusual death sentence because sleazy Ratfink says so? If we tried to starve a convicted criminal to death, the ACLU would freak out. If we tried to starve a 6-11 month old baby, EVERYBODY would freak out.

Not being able to feed yourself does not mean you deserve to die.

I had a cousin, Eric, who had brain cancer. He was in bad shape, so the doctors, along with his father, decided to starve him to death. And they did.

How is this not premeditated murder?

Are we so liberal in this country now… so progressive, that we are going to execute the infirmed? What’s next, retarded people? Paralyzed? Jews?

The right to die is not a right at all. If you take a look at the Constitution, you’ll see it really doesn’t address this little issue. You have the right to life, liberty, and equality. Nowhere do I see this “right to die” we all hear about being shoved down our throats by the progressive liberal leftist Nazis.

The left is upset that congress has tried to intervene. Well, I agree. It’s absolutely despicable that congress stuck their noses in something like this. However, I applaud them for being the only governmental group that was willing to make a pitch for life. We’re to the point that the judicial system is executing people for being sick. Congress may be the only hope for people like Terri. It’s despicable that Congress had to intervene. Judge Adolph Greer should have intervened for good, but he didn’t.

The far left applauds UC Professor Ward Churchill who called the victims of the WTC “little Eichmanns.” The only Nazis I see are the liberals pushing to kill off those that “burden society.”

If Terri dies, she should get an autopsy. I would be surprised if something suspicious or damning of Ratfink wasn’t found.

AUTHOR: warcrygirl Both of my kids progressed to the point where they now feed themselves. Will Terri do that? No. That is the difference.

AUTHOR: Poe I was just thinking…if you starved your dog in your backyard you would be arrested for cruelty to animals. I do not condone cruelty to animals, of course but where are we headed that an animal now has more right to life than a human. And by the way I have to feed my dog everyday too. He has yet to microwave his own TV dinner.

AUTHOR: Incredipete How is it different than you feeding your child? You’re a feeding machine for him… just because he’ll grow out of it…. is that the only difference?

AUTHOR: warcrygirl If he’s still legally married to Terri, then is his “common-law marriage” to the other woman really a common-law marriage? By definition, a man and woman would have to presentthemselves as man and wife for this to take effect. Since the other woman clearly knows Terri exists then I don’t see how this can be legally binding. He’s an adulterer by the purist of definitions, yes, but I don’t think he’s a bigamist.

AUTHOR: Incredipete And, for all intents and purposes, Michael Schiavo is common-law married to his girlfriend of 10 years, with home he has been cheating with since Terri’s injury. At best, he’s abandoned his vows to Terri, at worst, he’s a bigamist. Michael only cares about Michael. Someone that cares about Terri should be allowed to make the decision. And the decision will be life, with all of the therapy and care she needs… if they really care.

AUTHOR: Incredipete Except that she does respond to her environment, and to people. However, I would argue that even in a persistent vegetative state, only God gets to choose who lives and dies. Period. End of story.

AUTHOR: warcrygirl No she isn’t in a coma…she’s brain dead. Period. She will never get any better because the portion of her brain that’s responsible for that is dead. No cerebral cortex, no life.

AUTHOR: DanjerusKurves Yah, the second I spanked you I realised that I had typed “these coma” and had left out “some of” and I was SO hoping nobody would notice. *fake blush*

AUTHOR: Incredipete We all know what a rational, intelligent group of people they have living down in Florida. *cough @#$ gasp*

  13. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Andy I’m not so sure here. FL law states that in these circumstances the decsion is left to the husband. Plain and simple. If they think the husband is not capable of making a rational decision, or is involved in some foul play, they should go after the husband. Having the feds get invovled and the arguments they are using is a slippery slope.

AUTHOR: Anisettekiss SWEET!! You can double click my button anytime. p.s. Now. I couldn’t agree with you more. You know what’s even worse about that prick of a husband? He was offered a million dollars, what…last week? To sign over guardianship to her parents. He’s selfish AND stubborn and full of foolish pride. He angers me. I want something slow and awful to happen to him. He’s a miserable excuse of a husband. ugh.

AUTHOR: syn_ack89 The thing I LOVE is that the media (who is in support of letting her starve) doesn’t bring up the fact that ratfink has a girlfriend and kids. And that he has not spent any money for rehabilitative therapy. They slant it to make people think he is a sympathic character – instead of what is really is – a PATHETIC character!

AUTHOR: BigPimpinMBA Thanks for the button. Mucho Appreciated-o.

AUTHOR: Christine Firstly I love the button!! Next, my hubby and I had this exact conversation yesterday. There is dangerous precedence to this whole case, and yet another example of tyranny from the bench… f-ing activist judges! Ratfink was given $$ to make sure she had the best care. But, he hasn’t been using it for rehabilitation. Nope. Not at all. Just saving it for a rainy day, I suppose. The Docs surmise that she could be talking in as little as 6 months should she receive the proper rehab. Then she could (shocking enough) tell everyone what she wants! So what’s the rush to kill her off? Money, my friends. Ratfink bastard stands to make mucho dinero in the life insurance policy, as well as the remaining $ that was designated for her care. The living wills/advance directives are to clarify what you want to have happen in the event of medical incapacitation. Otherwise, they just assume you want to, you know… LIVE! My son can’t communicate, move around, or feed or dress, or bathe himself. He also soils himself and is in diapers. He is entirely dependant on others for his every need. One could argue that his quality of life isn’t what it should be. Yes, he’s 4 1/2 months old, but why split hairs over details!

AUTHOR: wilberteets The important factor is that the woman is not being artificially kept alive. She is not brain dead and on life support. She is not capable of feeding herself and thus, will die if you STARVE HER. Otherwise, she’ll live till her time comes. It’s no one’s place or right to decide to starve her. If she were on a life support machine it would be different. They’ll have to take steps to snuff her out. That’s what makes it wrong. She is in the exact same situation as a 3 month old baby. It’s murder if you refuse to feed your baby until it dies.

AUTHOR: Incredipete Sarcasm? I totally agree with everything you just said there!

  21. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Ricky Yeah. If “quality of life” is the deciding factor, then all retarded people should be put to death immediatly. And people with out the ability to speak or move. Like say, Stephen Hawkings. Thier “Quality of life” sucks and they should all die. Because I say so. And while we’re at it, let’s kill all newborn children who will grow up poor and without parents. Thier “quality of life” is gonna suck anyway, right? We should also Nuke 3rd world countries because thier “quality of life” definitly sucks. Seriously, what do they need to live for anyway? In fact, the only people at all who should be allowed to live are folks with immense amounts of money, like John kerry, because, his kind of lifestyle, with the billions of dollars, is really the only life worth living…….anything beneath that is just bad “quality of living”.

    November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Poe I just love the “quality of life” argument. Have we gotten so egotistical in our society that we think we can judge something as precious as life; let alone, what quality is needed to be acceptable to continue to live? Let’s call this what it is – genocide. And like Incredipete, said where will it end. How can we say “Never Again” and let something like this happen?

  24. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Incredipete While we’re at it, we should execute poor people and West Virginians, because their quality if life sucks, too.

  25. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Incredipete Why is it silly to call killing someone on purpose “premeditated murder?”

  26. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Wombat I can go either way on the Schiavo case. In one sense, I can see the ending of so dimished a life, but on the other hand I can see the ‘the husband has no say here’ camp as well.

  27. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: warcrygirl I thought I read somewhere that he spent the million dollars on her medical care. And I agree that he should have divorced her. However, I would NEVER want to be kept alive in that state just because my family couldn’t let go and just say goodbye. And I HAVE told my husband and family. If I have been reduced to the level of a cabbage please let me die.

  28. November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am

AUTHOR: Incredipete Without a living will, we don’t really know what Terri wants, do we? If she was brain dead, it wouldn’t be as upsetting. However, the fact that the only thing reason she needs hospital care is to be fed argues that we probably shouldn’t kill her. However, if you all support killing disabled people, more power to you.

AUTHOR: Andria Oh, Incredipete… you know I love you, but I must disagree with you here. Calling it “premeditated murder” is silly. I do agree, on one thing, however. The husband is, indeed, a scumbag. But she is in a vegetative state, and will never recover, and cannot function on her own. Her family needs to put their own selfish needs aside and consider her quality of life. Go back to ranting about dictators so I can agree with you ; )

AUTHOR: Nightmare Well You make some valid points but I still don’t think it is right to keep a person alive who’s quality of life is so diminished. I am a big supporter of euthinasia…..even if I can’t spell it.
