Stop Kissing Pigs, Already!

I’m sure you’ve heard that in Mexico they’ve had almost 2,000 cases of swine flu, and around 80 deaths. As of today, there are about 20 cases in the US, all of which appear to have been people who traveled to Mexico.

Unfortunately it seems that at least 2 cases have popped up in Kansas. That’s too close for comfort when it comes to population-destroying plagues.

My question is, why are so many Mexicans making out with pigs? Just as AIDS started in the monkey population in Africa, it begs the question – what the heck are you doing to get a swine-specific disease passed on to you?! I don’t want to be judgmental, but even if you got it from being a pig farmer – doesn’t that mean you didn’t wash your hands after messing with the pigs?

The CDC has said the best way to prevent swine flu is to wash your hands and don’t make out with sick people.

We’ve only known that for the past 300 years.

    The problem is that statistically speaking NO ONE washes their hands effectively. A 9 second rinse isn’t nearly good enough. The CDC and OSHA recommend:

    1) Wet hands with running water;
    2) place soap in palms;
    3) rub together to make a lather;
    4) scrub hands vigorously for 20 seconds; rinse soap off hands.
    5) If possible, turn off the faucet by using a disposable paper towel. Dry hands with a disposable paper towel.
    6) Do not dry hands on clothing.

    1) many public bathrooms now have water conservation sinks which can make keeping a running stream of water almost impossible.

    2) lack of soap

    3) What’s lather to one man is slight slime to another.

    4)20 seconds?!? HA! 78.35% of the time you’re lucky if people wash for 8 seconds.

    5) Impossible to do with the “sanitary earth-friendly forced-air hand dryers” that are so prevalent these days.

    6) Sometimes your own clothing is the cleanest thing in the entire establishment.

    So in conclusion, people don’t wash their hands well, the flu virus mutates and easily becomes airborne at which time you are effectively F%&#ed.

    Have a nice day!
