Yeah, I said it.
Obama is a racist, and the most recent proof is his nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Pizza Court. Sotomayor is a federal judge, and she has an interesting personal story of rising up from poverty. However, it’s ludicrous to assume she is the most qualified person for this position. In fact, there are droves of people who have much more impressive credentials that include writing opinions on Constitutional law, something Sotomayor hasn’t really done (and what I might say is a fairly crucial skill for a Supreme Pizza Court justice).
No, Sotomayor was nominated because she is Hispanic. Better yet, she’s a Hispanic woman. She is the answer to the Hispanic community’s cry for a justice, and Obama knows he needs to cater to the ever-expanding Hispanic voting base.
However, what everyone seems to be forgetting is this: George W. Bush nominated a Hispanic to the Supreme Court – and guess what happened? The Democrats filibustered to block his confirmation. Just like they did when they blocked the Republicans’ nomination of a black woman. The Democrats are simply catering to their voting base to cover up the sins of their past.
They can now claim that they are the “big tent” party that doesn’t have a racist bone in their bodies, while all the time, the only reason we HAVEN’T had a Hispanic justice is that they blocked it – primarily because they don’t like pro-life people. In that case, it had nothing to do with race – it was a philosophical disagreement.
Hmmm. So basically they feel they can block someone of a minority if they disagree with their politics. Hmmm. Isn’t that exactly what they are accusing the Republicans of doing now?
I don’t care if people want to play politics. That’s par for the course. Just don’t pretend like we’re racists for doing exactly the same thing you do. Hypocrisy is not an attractive quality.
Even if you ignore the fact they blocked our Hispanic nominee, they are still trying to fix “racism” by using their own racism. Nominating someone simply on their race is racism, even if you’re nominating a minority. If a white man said the kind of things that Sotomayor has said, he would be called a racist and summarily dismissed.
Attempting to undo racism with racism is just stupid. Two wrongs still don’t make a right.
