I’ve always said that Americans were evolved British, and I couldn’t have been more correct.
Europeans look down their noses at America, hating us for… well, I’m not sure exactly why. Apparently our help was good enough when the Germans were marching through their cities, but when we get involved in conflict elsewhere, they choose to judge and condemn. Now, I’m certainly not trying to imply that we have any business being in Iraq, but quite frankly, that has nothing to do with Europeans whatsoever, unless their OWN government decided they should side with us.
Without America, most of Europe would be speaking German today.
But then there’s this attitude around the world that America is a bunch of selfish, whiny jerks who only care about themselves and crap on the poor.
Hmmm. Interesting. Americans gave more than DOUBLE that of the second most generous country in the world, and more than 75% of that giving was done by INDIVIDUAL AMERICANS, not by our government or by corporations… ACTUAL INDIVIDUAL AMERICANS.
See this article for detail: https://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/25/charitable.giving.ap/index.html
65% of households earning $100,000 or less contributed to charities.
Americans gave 1.7% of their money to charity, while the UK followed at 0.73%. And, our arrogant, snooty, America-hating friends in France (who we helped liberate, God knows why) gave a whopping 0.14%.
Apparently being a “Progressive, Liberal” nation means you are arrogant and stingy. Who knew?
