Elton John is an Idiot

Yup.

Drudge Report is carrying a story right now in which Elton John calls for a total ban on religion, because religion is intolerant.

Uhhh…. Elton, I don’t think you fully grasp the concept of “intolerance.”

Can we all say a big “Duh” in unison for him? I mean, come ON.

It points out a very common occurance, though. How many times have I heard “We shouldn’t tolerate religion, because religion is intolerant” in one form or another. It’s probably the single most moronic things that Athiests and Liberals spout. (Please note that I differentiated between the two, despite their many simliarities.)

Ok, I fully acknowledge that religion as a whole is intolerant of certain behaviors. That’s… kinda the point, guys. Religion is all about teaching right from wrong. Which means that some things are wrong. Which we shouldn’t tolerate.

You may disagree on what those things are, and I think that’s just fine.

However, it’s rather damaging to your “accepting and all inclusive” relativistic BS argument when you say that we should therefore be intolerant of religion.

Duh.

“accepting and all inclusive” my @ss. We should nuke the crap out of…

Wait. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, Elton John. That dude stopped being relevant somewhere between “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and his bad hair implants.

Seriously, he, Rosie O’Donnell, and Boy George should stick to what they know (entertainment) and leave the talking to people we can stand looking at at.

    Incredipete’s being funny!

And just how did I know this would be your next blog topic? Personally I think we should ban Elton John because he’s intolerable. And Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the only listenable thing he’s ever done.

“There’s only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and the Dutch!”

Unfortunately, people like Elton John make retarded statements that ruin it for the very people he’s attempting (poorly) to defend. I admit I have my own problems with organized religion, but putting a ban on it for being intolerant seems a little…well… intolerant. I understand that as a homosexual, he wants equality, but running around making stupid comments is not the way to try and reach people.

I am intolerant of people who talk too loudly, men who exercise so much they have veiny bodies, and those who speak first, think second. Poor Elton falls into one of those categories.

Elton John is as irrelevant as most celebrities, only moreso. You should know you’re totally moronic when you say something so self-contradictory, but if you knew it you probably wouldn’t be a moron.

I’m becoming more and more intolerant of people filling up a big public stage with…nothing.

Ok, not to defend his statements, because you would only jump on that… BUT… he did say “organized religion”… right? And I think the point (or part of it) was as much that it left people less likely to form educated thoughts and opinions for themselves, right? As Incredipete says “about teaching right from wrong” which means someone is telling you what to think.

That said, I have no problem with religion. If it floats yer boat, fine (and yes that includes Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, etc.). Just don’t tell me how to behave because of something you believe.

And yes, he is an idiot. I think the glare off his suits must have caused some brain damage.
