Yesterday we had our second ultrasound. The nugget is starting to look less like a shrimp and more like a baby. There are little arms and legs now, a big head, and a heartbeat.
After the ultrasound we spoke to the IVF doctor. He said that in conventional pregnancy, 12 weeks is generally considered the “magic number” for safety. The doctor explained to us that with IVF, that number is 10 weeks, because in his words “we know everything about this pregnancy, and we have all the numbers to show it’s a viable pregnancy.”
Of course there are no sure things, but his confidence is definitely inspiring. Next week we go back to HEAR the heartbeat and then we’ll be turned over to Nicole’s OB. We taped off the nursery and this weekend we’ll be painting. Next weekend we’ll start furnishing and decorating!
